About CDHN

The Community Development and Health Network is a non-profit organisation dedicated to ending health inequality and poverty through the development of strong and caring communities.

We do health differently

We are bombarded with messages that frame health as an individual responsibility.

But health inequalities are driven by the social determinants of health, not just personal choices or lifestyles. Overemphasising individual behaviour change in public health can make the burden of inequalities worse for the least well-off population groups.

Health is also shaped by the support people get, the conversations they have, and the systems they interact with every day. By investing in organisations and people to build skills in health literacy, communities can better understand and manage their health.

CDHN’s approach to change is guided by our vision, mission and values, and informed by a theory of change.
